Challenge

  • Streamlining legacy infrastructure for modern airport demands

  • Integrating new video analytics with current systems to drive decisions and minimize disruption

  • Aligning diverse stakeholder requirements into a unified vision

  • Ensuring robust, actionable data management and scalability

  • Balancing technical upgrades against ongoing operational needs

Guiding Question

  • How might we embed real-time AI analytics to support safety and operational speed?

  • What strategies prioritize cross-team collaboration for effective airport analytics?

  • How do we drive actionable insights for security, operations, and enriched passenger journeys?

  • What human-centered approaches promote successful deployment and value retention?

  • How can feedback and measurement inform resilient, evolving platform capabilities?

Project Management

Weekly workshops with internal and external stakeholders, enabled by digital tools like Figma, promoted transparency and accelerated iteration. Comprehensive project reviews ensured clear ownership, timely milestones, and continuous measurement against success criteria.

Workshop

Extensive preparation was undertaken prior to the workshop, including stakeholder interviews, custom facilitation guides, and tailored observation notes to ensure targeted engagement. Building on these insights, the AI Design Thinking workshop was precisely structured for the airport context. Discovery activities and ideation sessions enabled participants to unpack existing pain points, prioritize operational needs, and collaboratively envision innovative use cases for video analytics and AI.

The workshop featured interactive exercises, such as live use case mapping, generative AI demonstrations, and strategy-building activities, which fostered cross-departmental collaboration and knowledge sharing. The facilitation tools were specifically adapted to encourage input from both technical experts and business leaders, ensuring all perspectives were captured. As participants worked through challenges, they co-created actionable milestones and impact pathways, producing a concrete, prioritized roadmap for implementation.

The outcome was a detailed roadmap report, integrating actionable recommendations, investment planning, and a feasible deployment architecture that clearly aligned future analytics initiatives with the airport’s business goals.

The Solution

The consulting engagement adopted a robust AI design thinking framework, guiding stakeholders through collaborative workshops, iterative prototyping, and scenario-based problem solving. Discovery tools and workshops were used to clarify operational objectives, map existing processes, and uncover areas for transformation through AI and video analytics. The crafted solution focused on integrating real-time analytics and scalable data management, delivering actionable insights for security and airport operations.

The final deliverables included comprehensive architecture recommendations, detailed process enhancements, stakeholder alignment on key milestones, and continuous measurement strategies to sustain ongoing success post-deployment. This methodology laid the foundation for agile, smart airport operations and set the benchmark for future analytics projects within the organization.

The workshop feedback is positive:

85.7% agreed and 14.3% strongly agreed that the information presented was relevant and useful.

71.4% agreed and 28.6% strongly agreed that they enjoyed the workshop.

100% agreed that the workshop was of the right length.

Participants found the most valuable aspects of the workshop to be the use case examples, increased knowledge of VAP and Generative AI, and the ideation process involving diverse perspectives.
